One of my favorite skincare brands is Kiehl’s. I love Kiehl's for a few reasons:
Kiehl’s originated in NYC! I have so much pride for where I’m from :)
The packaging is gender neutral and even encourages men to get into skincare! Skincare for all!
The messaging for skincare combines nature and science to provide the best results possible.
I’m no stranger to the brand and have tried a few (a lot) of their products before. I got a PureWow ad about a month ago promoting Kiehl’s facemasks and I wanted to review them! The ad is below:
The ad features 4 different Keihl's masks and how they can help with your skin needs. They have options for brightening, purifying, hydrating, or firming. The first three do a great job of summarizing the mask quickly by saying what it does and what ingredients it uses. The 4th one makes me laugh because it almost seems like the copywriter got lazy. "WEAR THIS OVERNIGHT" while the other three say what the mask does and "The velvety texture melts into skin," instead of highlighting the ingredients in the mask (which is hibiscus and ginger leaf).
In this post I will just be reviewing the first two masks shown, the Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque and the Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque. Out of the bunch, these two are the most similar because they have a clay or paste-like consistency that dries and needs to be washed off with water.
Turmeric & Cranberry Seed
Before I review, I need you to know I might be biased because I love turmeric. I take turmeric supplements every day and incorporate it into my cooking whenever I can because it is a natural anti-inflammatory and my skin is very prone to inflammation and it is usually what makes my acne look worse.
The product smells kind of spicy and is a fun bright yellow color. The cranberry seeds are pretty large and as you apply the mask you can feel a gentle exfoliation. The mask feels tingly which makes you feel like its really doing something. The mask feels tingly for about 5 minutes until it is finally dry and then its tight like a clay mask usually feels.
I use a warm washcloth to remove and it comes off fairly easily. I would recommend doing a second rinse just in case because the cranberry seeds are a little bit tougher to budge. After removing the mask, my skin really does feel smooth and extra exfoliated but I’m not sure my skin looks any brighter. Maybe after repetitive use the brightening effect can help lighten my acne scars. Only time will tell! My overall opinion is that I really love this mask because it makes it easy to apply turmeric to the skin without making a DIY-mask that will likely stain your face yellow.
Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing
This mask is meant to pull out dirt from your skin and do a deep cleanse…..pretty much exactly what the name of it is. The product smells, feels, and looks like a standard clay mask but it really does feel like it’s doing an intense job of cleaning the skin as it dries. The key ingredients in this mask are Bentonite clay, Amazonian white clay, and Aloe!
I remove this mask the same way as the turmeric mask, and it comes off super easy! My skin does not feel stripped after removing this mask. It actually feels moisturized which is probably the Aloe doing its work :) I did have one small, inflamed pimple before applying the mask and it has subsided significantly after just one use of the mask! I should probably use this stuff more often. The website recommends 2 or 3 times a week. I do like this mask a lot especially because I have really dry skin and this clay mask makes my skin feel clean and moisturized afterwards.
I will be reviewing the other two masks that the PureWow ad promoted soon :) Stay tuned!
